actual (adjective)

actual adjective [ only before noun ]

actual is one of 3000 most frequently used words in spoken and written English.

actual เป็นคำหนึ่งในบรรดาคำที่ถูกใช้บ่อยที่สุด 3000 คำในภาษาอังกฤษทั้งในภาษาพูดและภาษาเขียน

1 used to emphasize that something is real or exact: ใช้เพื่อเน้นว่าสิ่งใดเป็นเช่นนั้นจริงๆ หรือเป็นอย่างนั้นเป๊ะเลย

Example:

I’m not joking. Those were his actual words. ผมไม่ได้ล้อเล่นนะ นั่นเป็นคำพูดของเขาจริงๆ

I know Germany won, but I can’t tell you the actual score. ผมรู้ว่าเยอรมันชนะ แต่ผมบอกคะแนนจริงๆ แก่คุณไม่ได้

Interest is only charged on the actual amount borrowed. ดอกเบี้ยจะถูกคิดจากจำนวนที่ยืมไปจริงๆ เท่านั้น

Example:

2 the actual something used to introduce the most important part of an event or activity: ใช้เพื่อแนะนำส่วนที่สำคัญที่สุดของเหตุการณ์หรือกิจกรรมใด

Example:

The programme starts at 8.00 but the actual film doesn’t start until 8.30. รายการเริ่มตั้งแต่ 8.00 แต่ตัวภาพยนตร์จริงๆ ยังไม่เริ่มจนกระทั่งถึง 8.30
